Whether it was a breathtaking stunt or just an outrageously idyllic scene, most of us have witnessed something on the big screen that we'd love to mimic. While it's tricky to do a Luke Skywalker by thrashing Darth Vader on the Death Star, with a little effort you can recreate many of those iconic movie moments.
The GoldenEye bungy jump
Where: Ticino, Switzerland
To kick-start his tenure as 007, Pierce Brosnan or rather his stuntman leapt 220m off the edge of a dam, before landing safely on his feet and causing havoc in a Soviet military base. You can go one better than Brosnan by actually making the outrageous drop yourself, without facing any Russian soldiers at the bottom. Billed as the world's highest bungy jump, this Swiss-based adventure is one of the most terrifying, yet thrilling adventures known to man. You free-fall for seven sensational seconds before being thrown around like a rag doll while attached to the flapping cord, then hauled back to safety. Some daredevils have even done it in a James Bond-style tuxedo.

Finding a beach like DiCaprio
Where: Andaman Sea, Thailand
With the emerald waters surrounding Ko Phi Phi the original beach from
The Beach now clogged with boats and tourists, you're going to have to find another tropical paradise. But fear not. On the same coast, there are countless unspoilt islands where you can rough it up and wallow in the knowledge that only the most intrepid of travellers will be sharing those gobsmacking waterfalls, crystal clear seas and, yes, near-deserted beaches. The gorgeous Ko Lipe's popularity is growing by the day, but Ko Rok, Ko Tarutao and Ko Adang are still fairly remote and rugged. And who knows what other undiscovered gems lie an inquisitive boat ride away?

Ambling through a deserted London
Where: London, England
Two of the more startling movie scenes of recent years have involved lead characters wandering through the world's most famous cities all alone. But while there's no hope of experiencing an empty New York like Tom Cruise in
Vanilla Sky, you can almost emulate Cillian Murphy in horror flick
28 Days Later, when he wakes from a coma to find London completely deserted. Although there's little chance of seeing red double-decker buses overturned and bloodthirsty zombies lurking in the shadows, if you head to London's famed Square Mile at weekends, you can walk its streets for what seems like an eternity without seeing another face or moving vehicle. It's eerily quiet without the weekday bankers.

Dirty Dancing-theme weekends are held here, where you can stay in the workers' cabins and train in the beautiful surroundings that played host to the film's most iconic moments. Luxuriating like Tom Ripley
Where: Bay of Naples, Italy
The most striking thing about
The Talented Mr Ripley apart from how creepy Matt Damon looked in those chunky-rimmed glasses was the sublime locations used by late director Anthony Minghella. Rome and Venice were conspicuous by their inclusion, but audiences were really wowed by the fictional resort of Mongibello, where oddball Damon latched on to Jude Law's cocky Dickie Greenleaf. Mongibello is really the volcanic islands of Ischia and Procida, which teem with the rich and the beautiful and are both short ferry rides from Naples. On either, you can work on getting a golden tan like Law, or take a leisurely sailing trip out into the shimmering seas. Just make sure your co-passenger isn't an unhinged psycho like Mr Ripley.
